  1. A bracken is a large fern, that is abundant
  2. in the northern hemisphere. It is known to 
  3. cause cancer in sheep and cattle, and 
  4. harbours a sheep tick that transmits lyme 
  5. disease to humans. It is estimated that over
  6. 3,000sq km of countryside in England and 
  7. Wales is now covered by bracken.
