A bracken is a large fern, that is abundant
in the northern hemisphere. It is known to
cause cancer in sheep and cattle, and
harbours a sheep tick that transmits lyme
disease to humans. It is estimated that over
3,000sq km of countryside in England and
Wales is now covered by bracken.
